Designer Karelle Levy of KREL
I met designer Karelle Levy when I was working on the exhibition Sun Stroke Stimulus for the Wolfsonian Museum in Miami Beach. I was immediately taken with her fierce talent and charming personality. Karelle has a brand of knit clothing called KREL. An offshoot called KREL 2 GO is part fashion, part art project where she stretches and sews knit fabrics directly on the customers' bodies as they watch with excitement. I've been to several of her "Quicky Couture" events, at the Scope Art Fair and most recently at Eva NY Boutique on the Bowery, which are a lot of fun. She also hosts runway parties featuring her clothes, often at one of the the chic Standard Hotels. One event at Andres Balazs' Hammam in Miami Beach had large bowls of grapes for guests to enjoy and the feeling of a Roman Bacchanal. Her DayGlo fashion parties at the SubMercer in New York are also not to be missed!
