Get your pool party on at the Standard Downtown L.A.
Summer is in full swing and it's the perfect time to get to the roof of the Standard Downtown L.A. The perennial pool party Swimming with Sharks is served up every other Saturday but most weekends you can find some kind of party happening poolside. The Saturday I stopped by there was a lot going on including face painting, canvas painting, DJing, and plenty of cavorting at the pool. The scene attracts a good mix of folks including hipsters, tourists, models, and valley girls. Good vibrations are had by all whether lounging with a drink or loosing one's inhibitions in the pool with water guns and blow up toys. The setting embraces a panoramic view of downtown L.A. including the 1949 General Petroleum Building whose iconic red Pegasus logo completes the backdrop.
